Farm Show magazine has featured alot of converted school buses over the years.Many have been turned into hay trucks , round bale haulers and many other things. A school bus in most states is probably the best maintained vehicle on the road. In this state they undergo a very thourough inspection 2X ayear. Buses are desined for capacity based on seating space,not weight.This is determined by specifications for seating and aisles based on area(sq in)per person. A school bus is a body on frame design just like a straight truck, as opposed to transit buses which may or may not be an integralbody/frame design.There is gur near here that built a hauler out of a short (30 passenger)bus and used it to haul a small tractor and rubber tracked excavator with no problems.Many were also converted to haul race cars.I drove school bus for anumber of years and the GVWR of my last full sized bus was 25000#.
