Check with the realestate companies that deal with ranches. The larger the place the less you pay per acre. Try www.enranches.com (I think I spelled it right. If not it is Arnold Reality, Newcastle,WY ). You got to own it for a little while before you put it into CRP but if you took the funds out of the market then its for long term investment anyway. Check with the local county Natrual Resourse Service to see if the land qualifies first. Bet you'll be supprised how easy it is. Also if its got trees they'll pay you for thinning them two. Some say I don't know what I'm talking about which may be true but I've seen it locally. This place is in the longest drought in a hundred years. Everything is overgrazed. The only thing growing is weeds. If you'er setting on you money waiting for the market to rebound anyway then check it out, ain't gonna cost nothing.
