At piston TDC on the compression stroke, the mag needs to be fitted to the engine such that the mag gear tooth marked "x" is visible through the inspection opening (the opening is adjacent to the mag and has a plug in it...remove the plug to observe the mag gear teeth).

I have the Wisconsin AENL manual that shows the procedure, along with flywheel TDC markings. I would be glad to scan the two applicable pages and email them to you if you wish. They would be in pdf format so you would need the Adobe reader to view/print.
