I agree with the other posting about the spray foam for bees/hornets. It does a super job on wasp nests too. Shoots a dozen feet and expands like shaving cream. They may buzz a bit, but its extremely effective.
If I didnt have that, the gasoline pouring is my next recommendation. It may do a number on the surrounding grass if you're not too bold to attack their entry directly.
