What is wrong with getting the $3.49/can aerosol wasp and hornet killer. The stuff shoots a spray that is about 15-20' in range, and you blast the mouth of their nest with it. I'd give the nest at least a 1 minute shot, continuously. Any Hornets that emerge will get doused. Have a second can and sprayer standing by if you don't know where the second opening(if there is one) is. The second sprayer watches the area to spot the hornets if they escape and to blast the insects as necessary. Cost:$7-8! Benifit: You don't have to approach the nest too closely.
