Apparently it is both. Look at the newer semi-trucks. The engines are bigger and they are turning slower than the older ones and often getting close to 10 mpg. You would think Detroit would see this. Compare a car weighing 2000-2500 lbs getting 30-40 mpg and a truck weighing 80,000lbs getting 10 mpg. Weight wise it is about a 40 to 1 ratio and mileage wise 3 or 4 to 1 ratio.
