Steven: Using leather was a somewhat common trick many decades ago. It's a carry over from horse and buggy days fixin wagon wheels with leather. Those Chev 6's had a low pressure splash system of 10-15 lbs. They couldn't take too many RPM's. 3000 was about enough. I had a '51 chev car back then which I put a split exaust manifold and glass packs on for a duel system. I Had to make it sound more like a V8.. and it did. G.
