Hi Bob, in a hyd system teflon tape is an excellent sealant for one time use. If you have to take that fitting apart again, it is nearly impossible to clean it all out of the female fitting and may have problems per Ray's post. I have had good luck with Leaklock™ on all taper thread fittings. If the the joint is compression or flare, a sealant is not recommended but lubricate the threads to aid torque. Regards, Joe
