I agree that the Cadillac flathed V8's were used in the personnel carriers. I've got a couple in the shop, one with a pair of Edmunds Aluminum heads and matching dual-deuce manifold. Not sure about the tank engines, but I know that some of the tracks for the tanks were made by Maytag in Newton, IA. I moved from there 20+ years ago, but at that time I understand that the production line and what not used to make them was still set up, greased and ready to go if needed.
