The tractors Joe mentions below were indeed equipped with Chrysler flathead sixes. Seems to me there were a couple other orphan/oddball makes that also used this engine but I cannot recall what they were offhand.

Regarding the "chain drive" comment, it's possible the tractor your friend is offering has a roller chain flex coupling between the clutch output shaft and the transmission input shaft. This coupling style is found on most Oliver tractors built in the 50's and 60's, and likely was used on other makes as well.
