I had the front tires of my Ford 641D foamed and think that was the best thing I ever did to that tractor. Same problem--thorns and multiple flats in fairly new tires. It cost a little over $100, but was worth much more to avoid the aggravation of the continual flats. They now do not "give" as much as air filled tires, but are not like solid rubber tires either. I don't know anything about your JD, but the foamed front tires don't seem to have hurt my Ford. It is a work tractor that I use all the time.
