Interchange/replace Spinout Rims

I have Massey 14"x38" spinout(power-adjust) rims,
with 15.5-38 tires, all poor. I thought of putting
the 6 rails onto after market rims with 16.9-38
tires. This 'seems' to require 15"x38"rims, hard
to find used. How well do the 6 rails survive, if
you remove & weld to good/new rims? For decent
fit, with the 16.9-38's, do I need the 15" rims,
to avoid ballooning? The 14" rims are quite common
in used spinout. I sense a project mushrooming, to
add rails to 15" rims. Who has experience with the
6 rail removal/welding? Thank you.
