You didn't mention a price range but I would look at diesels. Gas tractors have been few and far between since early 70's. Look at what dealers are available in your area (for parts). My personal bias is toward Fords (5600, 6600, & 7600 series, avoiding 6000 like the PLAGUE). Frames are very accessable, dependable power plants, and proven design. Cost here, $7000-$10,000. On the gas end the 3000-4000 Fords (plus to 800 series) cost $4000-$5000 (here). Hydraulic are not as good. At this price a 885 or 990 Case is very competitive.
