Lots of good suggestions below. The fact that you don't have a brand loyalty leaves the field wide open. You will have to look around and do some research and then go with what floats your boat. I agree with starting small; if a Ford, go with an 8N or an Allis CA, D10 or D12 or a JD 40, 420, etc. JD M is a nice unit but a little limited in the attachment line. If you decide to go bigger, a Farmall H, Super H, JD B or JD50.

Bigger? A Farmall M, Super M, MH 33 or 44 or any of the JD's like an A or a 60. I have a 70 and I like the tractor but it is big! Oliver Super 66's are nice tractors too. If the looks will suit you, there are a lot of Case SC's around.

Knowing what I know now, I would probably be looking for a JD 50 (as JD 70 Jim said below) because they are a very complete unit, useful and easy and fun to use. Massey 33's and 44's are neat too. My $.02 but it's your own interests and $$$$ that will influence your decision. Above all, have fun!
