yep,that(high temp aluminum paint)works quite well & i have done it many times...not only on flatheads & overhead valves but on a couple of early chrysler Hemi's too(bout 11 engines total)...the sandwich(metal/fiber/metal)type if in good condition will be fine...last time i done it i ran the truck(my daily driver)over 80.000 miles afterward & when i tore er down there were no signs of any leakage(tore er down bcause of busted piston)...the gasket must be in good condition though...& you have to retorque it...
