The key word is capacity, either measured in amp-hour or cold cranking amps. In parallel the capacities are additive. In series the capacity is equal to the weakest battery, or cell. Given the reality that not many things are equal, including new batteries, the parallel batt. will support themselves while in the series set the weaker will drain the stronger. My three dollars(two cents corrected for inflation).
