Nolan: Your right in most cases where the advance curve was properly designed for that engine and its intended use. The retard feature at very slow RPM's also makes for less vibration. Most mags go for full advance above cranking RPM. This advance curve feature is better in the wide rpm range of car\pickup engines. I designed and built an advance\retard point system for a 1,000 to 8,000 RPM engine many years ago. It was an interesting job. G.
