Kinda right. The load sensing outlet can be used to stroke the pump, however it is also used with gear system pumps.
Because steering systems are closed center systems, they need a priority valve to divert the pump flow to them whenever they are activated and as the name implies, prioritize steering, therefore the valve will be mounted between the pump and the other valve body on the machine. When steering is activated,oil will FIRST go to the steering motor, that is where the load sense signal comes into use. Stop steering and oil will go back to the control valve. That is why the control valve will be an open centered valve.
Hope that is a little clearer than mud but does put you on the right track.
