How about making a tool box? All you need for materials is galvanized sheel metal, pop rivets, piano hinge and some round stock for a handle. You probably have a brake press ( for bending sheet metal ) in your shop class. Just decide the LxWxH and mark your measurements on the sheet metal. If you're not sure how to design the pattern practice with a card board shoe box, just cut the corners and lay it flat. That should give you an idea how to mark the sheet metal for cutting. Make sure you have a little lip to fold over on all the outer edges so the corners have a tab to rivet and the upper edges have a smooth folded edge not a sharp one. The lid is just a shallow box, and you bend some round stock to make a handle. Cheap on materials and who can't use a tool box or a box for parts/fasteners. Good Luck!
