I have been going to antique equipment shows almost every weekend all season long for the last twelve years since I met my husband. Only twice have I felt it necessary to ride around a show. Two years ago I had to help run our home show, 3 days after having a caesarian section. I had no handicap placard or visible problem, but I sure couldn't hike the hills of our reclaimed strip mine, so I rode a borrowed golf cart when I needed to get somewhere. This summer, my blood pressure is very high, and with the heat as it has been, my feet have swollen up like balloons, so that I can barely hobble. Once again, I have no handicap placard. I do, however, have an 1953 3-wheeler bicycle, that I use to go buy ice or get to the showers, with my 2-year-old strapped on in her carseat. I try to time my trips for when the crowds are thin. Some shows have been very understanding about it, and some have forbidden me to ride. I don't see much of those shows, so I am not patronizing their kitchen or other money-raisers. On the other side of the coin, my little one has been almost run over a couple of times by golf carts and/or garden tractors speeding past our stand. I think the solution is to require that drivers be licensed and speed limits be enforced, not to have someone who doesn't know you or your health condition decide whether you "deserve" to ride around the grounds.

Some of them only bring their noses down out of the air long enough to look down them anyway. If you are like me you are only doing this old tractor stuff because you enjoy it. You
