Contact his dad. If it was my son I would want to know ASAP! If that is not possible have the law leave a note on the ATV to come in for a talk. State it is to be an "off the record friendly chit chat" If the police say he was sorry and had a good attitude and promised not to do it again chalk it up to the boy learning a lesson on his way to manhood. If not let the police step up the pressure. Like boot the wheel etc. Over the years I've worked with teenage boys and found 95% of them respond to this type of an approach if they have good parents. The other 5% end up in jail.
