I would sure try adjusting the clutch linkage to get it to press the throwout bearing a little more before I did anything else. It sounds like your clutch is not releasing all the way because when the pedal is all the way down, the throwout bearing is not pushing the clutch arms enough to fully release the disk. It could be that your clutch is worn out or contaminated, but usually the problem people have with the old Fords is the clutch rusting and not releasing at all. There has been a lot of discussion on the Ford and N Boards about this problem and ways to fix it, but it usually comes down to splitting the tractor. Splitting the tractor to look at the clutch is quite a bit of work. I would try the clutch linkage adjustment first. It is external and a whole lot easier. Good luck, hope it works.
