Hi Chuck, sounds like your getting on top of the situation with the tractor. The black sooty plugs are probably a sign of not using it hard enough and maybe the high speed metering jet needs readjusting. Get it warmed up to temperature...mow a few rounds and rev it up to WOT (wide open throttle) and turn the big screw in on the carb inward (clockwise) till it starts to die...then back it out a half turn...let tractor go back to idle...jerk throttle wide open...it should come up to rpms smoothly and without hesitating...if it don't...readjust hsmj till it does. That'll get you closer than the 5 1/2 turn thing...and hopefully solve the problem. The idle jet sounds about right...adjust it for highest rpm at idle and you should be good to go. The loader with it's own reservoir should take regular 20 or 30 wt. hydraulic oil. No power steering fluid. We had a quarter inch of your rain yesterday...(Greenfield, Ohio.) I was hoping we'd get an inch. I done same with the 7/8" socket. Keep your radiator (grill) cleaned off about once an hour...it'll get a mattress on it this time of year mowing. L8R....Fred OH

At one time I had seven restored examples which were shown and used in ploughing matches. As most restorers, I have a number of war stories I can relate on a range of topics that may help other like minded and interested people. Perhaps my first p
