i think the D21 series 1 is different in the radiator and hood/ hole area as you said. you might get a better answer on the allis chalmer page. on the D17 not sure i under stand the question. if you have a two way hydraulic system it should be easy to install. If you dont have the parts and are wanting to make your two way, the simplest way is to route your present pressure hose into a new valve that has pressure inlet, then two outlets to "raise" and "lower" hoses. there should also be a center drain on the new vavle, back to sump when valve is not stroked.
