loss of power

I have a'52 8n, ser#518000, 12 volt converted.
Replaced the carb this spring, ran OK then started to lose power...had to choke to keep it running and choke more the hotter it got. Now I can't even start it without full choke and then no power or throttle before it quits...and then I do! Any thoughts?
