I dig postholes with my 9N all the time. It is tricky...use your position control setting, and let the drill in slowly...if it hangs on a rock and stalls the tractor, use a big pipe wrench to back it out with the tractor shut off. It also help to dig the holes after a good soaker rain, or presoak the holes with a garden hose if it's feasable Good Luck Steve
