First oil gets into air filter manually, you pour it in and it stays there till you change it. Second, oil should return to crankcase when engine is off. It usually takes several minutes for it all to drain back. Where else would you expect it to go? Always check oil level after engine has been sitting awhile.
Third, how do you know the pressure is low, the old gauges didn't have numbers on them, and some replacements do. Could be simply a different range on the pressure gauge.
