They are both good tractors. Hours and condition can make a difference on price but the JD sounds to high for what you tell about it. If it is a gas it is definetly to high. Where I work we have a JD 2520 gas narrow front that in that price area or less.The 2520 is 7 years newer and has the hyd counsel on the right side of the seat. The 3010 has it on the left side of the dash which is not as handy. If gas the 2520 is also 4 hp more than the 3010. The M-M M670's were very good tractors and are 70hp. They came standard with dual hyd outlets and have a 10 speed trans where the JD only has 8 speeds. If both are gas the M-M should use about the same amount of fuel as the JD but will do more work. A neighbor had one a few years ago and he said it used less fuel doing the same work as his IH 400 did. One of the main things to check is the torque. In high is direct drive and you have engine brakeing. If there is any problems it is usually the low end and most often the spring and roller kit. Most of the time the M-M torques are cheaper to fix than the IH one are. The price of the M-M sound real good. My dad and grandpa both farmed with M-M's and were very happy with them. I work in the parts dept and most M-M parts are still easy to get. I would get the M-M yellow and keep the green in my pocket.
