You will need the height (or depth) for this conversion since a square foot is based on the length times width and a cubic yard uses length times the width times the heigth. You can convert the square foot to cubic yard by converting the square footage to inches and using the formula by multiplying the length x width x height to get cubic inches (CI). Then your conversion formula would be: Cubic yards = CI/1768/27 or length x width x height inches divided by 1768 then divided by 27.
