The mystery is over, at last. Unknown is a FIAT!!!

Well, finally I find out for certain what it is!
I spoke to the current owner today and he tells me it is a FIAT!!!! The model is a Calzolaro, 27hp and runs on petrolio, a mixture of petrol and oil not unlike two-stroke. It's VERY rare apparently, especially with this engine. He will be bringing the 'Libretto' to my house in the next few days, then I can collect it!
