Could someone explain the difference between a "tractor hydraulic fluid" and a "r & o hydraulic fluid" ??? are there examples where R&O is only to be used ??? I've got a couple of tractors that use THF and I am familiar with it. also familiar with car / tractor / truck maintenance. not familiar with "R & O", however. my in-laws have a MF 202 front end loader / backhoe that calls for the use of mineral oil in the trans/differential and hydraulic systems. I need to change out every fluid in the tractor do to marginal maintenance. question is what fluid to use in the (1) hydraulic system, (2) transmission / differential, (3) power steering fluid (the book calls for type "A" ATF, for what it is worth). the manual I am looking at was printed in 1963, so I assume that fluids have changed a little in the last 40 years !!! additionally, I need to get oil, hydraulic, air, etc. filters. no cheap parts here, please !! any suggestions on where to get quality items at a better price than the dealer, or should I just go to the local dealer and save the shipping ?? lastly, are the extended life coolants a good or bad choice for this unit. I regularly change my truck's coolant, but this unit will rarely get changed, thus the thinking on the better coolant. I will flush the system real well prior to putting new coolant in. email me at [email protected] with questions / comments / ideas ... many thanks !!! steve
