50's farm tractor hydraulics, what operating pressure?

My brother got an old log splitter that was meant to be hooked up to a farm tractor's hydraulic system. We are going to get a pump and an engine but in order to size them correctly I would like to know what the typical operating pressure for a 50's to 60's farm tractor hydraulic system. Any one have an idea where I might get such information?
