Power Inverter

I have a rebuilt Ferguson TO-20 that is currently in use as a work tractor on our small horse farm. It's been converted to a 12 volt. I had the idea awhile back of building some kind of toolbox for it that I could use for carrying around the various handtools I might need when I'm out working on our property. Then I thought, "wouldn't it be cool if I could incorporate a power inverter into my toolbox so I could plug in whatever power tools I might need". My question is: Can this be done? If so, how? Or, should I forget about it and start buying rechargeable power tools?
