Yep! Heat. I'm not familiar with your tractor, but if it's a gas engine richen the fuel mixture a bit to help it run cooler. This is the proper procedure for my TO30; per the owners manual engine cooling is partially done by fuel mixture, and a lean mixture(under load) will cause it to run hot.
