Your neighbors will only take advantage of you as long as you let them do it - been there, done that. That being said, I like Mike's idea of you offering to do the work for your neighbors for a fee; if they have to pay you, they'll either hire you(good) or think twice and go buy their own machine(also good). I'll betcha they'll go buy their own machines. It's the old saw about "why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free." On the other hand, you can just tell them, "no, too many people have borrowed my equipment and torn it up, so I don't let anyone borrow it anymore."
