I posted here with the same problem a couple months ago on my 1900. The screen/strainer on the suction line that comes from the bottom of the main gearbox was clogged up with chassis grease. It is behind a round aluminum cover held in place with 3 or 4 bolts and the bigger of the 2 steel lines going to the pump is bolted to it.
I had cleaned it and changed the oil last fall, and thought now the pump was failing. But somehow excessive lubing of the rockshaft or something caused grease to enter the gear box and contaminate the oil.
