I did just that for my John Deere 790, ordered a cyclinder from Surplus Center. Had to cut off the end on the cylinder (had the pipe look-a-like end), then welded a 3 point hitch arm swivel end end on it (you need the cylinder end to clear any mounting ears) and a plain replacement 3 point swivel ball to the rod end. Works great. I had to add a control valve to my hydraulic system. While adding a top tilt I also add hydraulic tilt by replacing the down links on the 3 point with hydraulic cylinders. I fun to tip and tilt my box blade and scraper blade without getting off the tractor.
