Check battery voltage, Then check battery voltage while cranking it shouldn't be much over a 3 volt drop. If it is check the brushes and clean the armature surface where the brushes run using machinest paper. Grease the bushings but don't get any grease on the brushes and try again if this doesn't work have it rebuilt. By the time you put in a second battery and wire it in you can have the starter rebuilt cost wise. Try NAPA for the parts and rebuild as they do it where I live.
