"if the Sheriff was involved, I would bet there was a court order" Maybe, maybe not. I've seen instances in rural areas where the Sheriff got in trouble by exceeding his authority. Whether or not that happens to be the case this time can only be determined through the legal system in the jurisdiction involved. That's why I told him it was a matter for the attorneys and courts.
