Yes it is a roll bar, at the minimum, but might have more components. I agree that a seat belt, or something to keep you within the protected area should also be included. And you HAVE TO USE THE SEAT BELT! ROPS stands for roll over protection structure and I have also seen the S stand for system. Most of them that I have seen on farm type tractors are made of heavy square steel tube and look like a big "U" upside down, with the upright members solidly attached to the rear axle housing of the tractor. The ROPS is usually slanted back somewhat to give greater protection if the tractor rolls over backward and also so it is somewhat more out of the way. Some of the other ROPS I have seen have more uprights and screens or even roofs over the operator area. Some cabs also look like they would be strong enough to be considered a ROPS. If you build a ROPS, build it a LOT stronger than you think it needs to be. And install a seat belt and maybe a better seat to securely hold you in place during a rollover, since you are probably not strong enough to hold on under those conditions. It only takes once.....
