The JD 820 is almost identical to the JD 1020 series Dubuque tractors. Get the Parts Catalog (ebay has one currently listed), Tech Manual and the Operators Manual.

Parts and service is available from JD, of course, so you are "never alone" when something needs attention.

Keep an eye on this discussion group, because other owners of the 820, 1020, 1520, 2020, 2030 and newer variants contribute useful information regularly.

Finally, keep your JD 820 maintained and it will serve you well and appreciate in value.

Also, don't believe all the "hype and glow" we owners of these late 20's series utilities generate. But, believe it or not, I have to drain my JD 1020's Diesel fuel tank every night during the work season to make sure it will stay put! Otherwise it will head out to the fields all by itself! They love hard work!

As a further precaution, I have taken to moving the refuel tanks around the property on a regular basis, because if the 1020 sees the tanks it remembers there location. And, after I've drained its fuel tank, there's still enough fuel in the tractor's pump and lines for the 1020 to drag itself over to the tanks and do its own fill up! Yah! Believe it or not... :)
