Mary,
Don't charge the tractor that is 6 volt with a 12 volt charger!!!
Thats probably what burned up your coil and possible the ignition also.
You seem to have some other problems also so I would suggest takeing it to a dealor or mechanic.
Why is gas in the oil?
How did it get in there?
Sure it was not water instead?
Is the generator chargeing? Sounds like it aint.
