Super A charging circuit

I've got a Super A, still wired for 6 volts and the maximum that the generator will deliver is only about 2 amps, while the charge voltage is about 7.4 volts.
I've had the generator and the regulator checked and both are OK. Can anyone tell me what the resistance value is of the coil across the back of the light switch? Any other suggestions are appreciated.
