Last night I was just discussing with my wife how happy I am to have an old New Idea Cut/Ditioner. It is slow and does not leave a laser sharp cut, but if you are working an unknown field and hit a big rock or stray fence post (hint to my neighbor), nothing breaks. My brother-in-law wiped out a cutter bar on a JD MoCo last haying season when he hit a rock on a rental field. He has since bought a Cut/Ditioner for his new to him fields.
