removing an idle tube from carb

ok, while cleaning the carb on my '52 farmall cub, the idle tube broke off right flush with the surface. the idle tube is threaded up in there, and i need to know how to best get that thing out so i can get the cub up and running again. does anyone have any experience in removing anything like this? i have tried a sharp knife and a small screwdriver, but they seem just to round off that brass really quick. thanks.
