The "live" hydraulic pump is a standard part of the tractor. The plumbing and selective control valves come with the loader. As to the backhoe, it can go either way. I looked around a bit, and decided to go with a hoe that uses a PTO driven pump and separate hydraulic system. My thinking was that the pump on my tractor would make for a slow hoe, and that a backhoe runs hydraulic fluid temps up pretty quick, and repeated cycling of oil temps causes condensation in the system. As most (if not all) compact tractors use the transmission as a hydraulic sump, the condensation thing didn't seem like a good plan to me. I've been very happy with my PTO-pump driven Woods 650 backhoe.
