Hi Red: I work in the Water Field, hence the name. Water Heaters should be Flushed every month. To flush out any settelings. If you have that much Calcium that you can dig it out through the heater opening, I suggest you buy a new heater. As someone else found out, there's a good chance your heater will spring a leak very soon. "ACID" if you don't know what your doing. Don't work with "ACID" it is dangerous!!! Play safe..
