Actually, since you had title to the car, when you dropped it in his yard as a crushed mass you would have been committing a crime. It might have been nothing more then littering, but it was your car, not his, that you dumped in his yard. Not to mention putting yourself out the $2k by crushing it instead of selling it. In fact, if the car was as you described, you put yourself out quite a few thousand dollars. An entertaining story, but I hope you can understand that I don't find it believable.
