Hey, Alberta Mike. The jist of your inquiry is which is the best. Well, they all worked as they were intended, Two points to consider, HP and ease of hookup. Front pulley's were mostly the most difficult to belt up to an implement. Rear or side were the easiest. Pulley's coupled directly to the engine crank were provided with the most HP the engine offered. One tractor make that offered the best of these factors were the two cylinder Jonny Poppers. Their hand clutch also made it easy belt tensioning.
