My boss had a Turbo Coupe in the late 80's and I got to drive it several time. It was a 5 speed and seemed a little slow off the line, but when you got some RPM's, it FLEW! A very powerful car, maybe a little heavy for the engine, but not bad at all. My boss claimed good mileage, though I don't remember what the numbers were. He had injector trouble at about 70K and I think had to pay for their replacement. He sold the car with less than 100K and the turbo and engine were still in very good shape.

Turbos are expensive to rebuild or replace and they do have a given lifespan. Most cars with turbos require 93 or better octane gas to work right. But if you want a car that will go, the Turbo Coupe might do the job well for you. I don't know how much it is worth--anything that old and slightly unusual is hard to put a value on. Condition now is what I would look at. And find out what has been done to the car in terms of replacement and maintainance.

I read an article about a guy who put one of those turbo 4's in an old Pinto, which is much lighter. A total screamer!!!
